So why do you, as a male, go along with the societal norm of cutting your hair?

I don't grow it long to rebel. Even though people like to mock that idea. It's kind of like being told since you're little that santa claus is real. Then you realize he isn't. And stop believing. If you were raised on a deserted island you probably wouldn't worry about hair cuts too much.
