Describe the difference between an ionic bond and a covalent bond.?

Ionic bonding otherwise known as electrovalent bonding is one which involves the transfer of electron from an atom to a higher atom in terms of electronegativity. Whereas, covalent bonding involves sharing of electrons. Both types of bonding are all in a bid to form a stable compound.
