When writing an article FOR a website, do I use MLA or APA or other?

I am new on the article writing scene and I want to be safe. But when I write articles for my website, which style is preferred and where can I find details on specifics things (if you don't know) to look out for when writing & citing my own articles? So I can stay out of legal trouble and like I said, be safe.
