Does anyone know the eligibility rule for NCAA Division II athletics?

I know in Div. I a player's eligibility starts as soon as they start their first semester. I may be wrong but I believe that Div. III players only use their years of eligibility the years they actually participate in whatever sport they play. But I don't know anything about Div. II. Can anyone please shed some light on this for me?
